PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATIC LEADERS RALLY BEHIND HENRY FOR DNC

ORANGE COUNTY, CA - Dr. Bill Honigman, State Coordinator, Progressive Democrats of America, joins the growing list of diverse progressive leaders,
such as author, activist and PDA National Board Member Norman Soloman, CDP LGBT Caucus Co-Chairs Laurie McBride and Jess Durfee, LA Progressive Publishers Dick Price and Sharon Kyle, CDP Rural Caucus Chair Jamie Beutler, CDP Legislative Action & Equal Opportunity Committee Co-Chair Carole Lutness, and CDP Credentials Committee Co-Chair Lois Hill in endorsing Henry’s bid for the DNC.

“I am honored to have received these valuable endorsements,” said Henry. “I’m pleased to see that my efforts of training and organizing progressive activists, leaders, and candidates across California have been noticed and that the many free services and products I’ve brought to our state’s clubs and county committees through my role as president of the California Democratic Council has been appreciated.”

“I currently live in the most Republican county in the nation (Orange County).  Even though we have over half a million registered Democrats, we still lack sufficient support and resources.  I previously lived in Big Bear (rural San Bernardino County) where we were able to elect three Democrats to the local city councils in a deep red district.  I understand what it takes for progressives to win even when the odds are against them.”

“It is important to note that out of 19 DNC delegates, 18 were from deep blue counties (9 from Los Angeles alone).  Although I obviously understand how important their voices are on the DNC and have personally supported many of them, I would very much like to see a DNC delegation that truly represents all of California, including voices from the red and rural counties.”

“When discussing the 50 state strategy on a national level, having a voice on the DNC from a very red or rural region who can fully appreciate the impact of the strategy will offer a unique perspective that delegates from the blue areas may not necessarily have.  It’s that perspective that I would like to bring to the table.”

“We have a lot of representation from the bluest county in the nation.  It would be nice if those of us fighting in the reddest county in the nation also had a voice.”

Henry’s growing list of endorsements includes 23 county chairs along with numerous regional directors and CDP Caucus Chairs.
